According to the requirement that most airlines are asking, as long as your eyesight doesn’t exceed +/- 4 then you are on the safe side. There are so many flight attendants that wear glasses, you would just be surprised how many. I remember in my batch during training I think that more than ¼ of my colleagues were wearing glasses. Guess what! Including me.
So the answer is definitely yes. You are allowed to wear glasses.
Now, indeed there is a certain requirement that most Middle East companies are requiring- that is the color of your frames. There are just a few colors accepted, in order for their crew to look a lot more professional. Those are:
– black
– brown
– gold
– silver
– no frame
– and contact lenses
You are allowed to wear contact lenses but you will still need to have a pair of glasses as reserve approved by the company doctors just in case during the flight your eyes will get dry and you want to take off your contact lenses. And believe me, if you fly long-haul flights they will get dry! No doubt! I always wore contact lenses but as you can see it is not mandatory. And I always had in my bag my extra pair of glasses approved by the company. It is mandatory. Also, you will not be allowed to wear colorful contact lenses. If the grooming office will see you have colorful contact lenses (and yes, you have grooming checks before every flight) you risk getting offloaded (if you refuse to remove them, of course) thing that will be written in your file and definitely will delay your promotion within the company.
